Mario's Galactic Adventure Trailer Debuts, Unveiling New Characters Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voices
Nintendo and Illumination unveiled the debut comprehensive teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on Wednesday. It was showcased in a Nintendo-focused broadcast that centered on the upcoming animated film.
The follow-up to the 2023 blockbuster The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this new installment will send Mario to the outer limits of the cosmos. Along the way, he discovers a fresh princess character and a challenging new adversary in Bowser Jr., the offspring of the Koopa King.
A Cosmic Adventure Based on Classic Games
In the vein of the Wii console classics that provide its foundation, Mario will depart from the cozy environment of the Mushroom Kingdom to explore outer space. Throughout his extensive trek, he will meet again some well-known personalities, including the Luma, a breakout star from the first movie.
But it appears Mario and his sibling Luigi will battle a different foe in the form of Bowser's irate young son, who reportedly commands metallic abilities. Interestingly, the trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not solely focused on Galaxy-themed scenes; it also contains hints to further iconic releases like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
Star-Studded Voice Cast Come Back and Grow
The film will see the return of the primary vocal talent, including Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Fresh faces in the lineup for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will portray Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to play Bowser Jr. The casting was verified by the CEO of Illumination, Chris Meledandri.
Mario's Major Moment
Mario's latest cinematic adventure is planned to debut around the time of the four-decade milestone of the original Super Mario Bros. game. Apart from the cinematic release, 2026 promises to be a major period for Mario and his allies.
Nintendo has three new games already confirmed for that year, featuring Mario Tennis Fever, a version for Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a new Yoshi platformer titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
