This race was expected as one of the stronger editions of this unique seven-furlong contest for female horses. However, veterinary inspections led to several scratches this morning, such as top contenders Sweet Azteca and Tamara.

As a result, the field now appears much smaller, but trainer Bob Baffert has a major opportunity to claim his 20th Breeders’ Cup win. His entrants include Richi and Splendora, whereas Hope Road, winner of the Grade One Ballerina Stakes, is considered the primary threat.

Additional contenders include Bucanero Fuerte and She’s Quality, each with strong credentials. The US-trained competitors such as Motorious, Ag Bullet, plus Reef Runner also pose significant threats, with Ag Bullet showing Grade One-winning form at Saratoga.
